Chi Town!!!

Last month we took a trip up to Chicago so that Logan and Audrey could do a little bonding. Though they seem so much bigger and so much more interactive, they really didn't seem to be interested in one another. Well, at least it looked that way. I honestly believe that they were taking each other in.

Logan was not feeling it the first night that we were all together. Every time Audrey would start talking, Logan would pucker up and start to cry. It was pretty hilarious. I just know that the older they get the closer they will become.

Logan has not been feeling too well. He currently has a double ear infection, poor little man. This means that we are pretty much getting no sleep, but somehow, I am getting used to it. I guess I have no choice:) He ran a fever Friday, but still seemed in good spirits. He is totally normal in the day, but in the middle of the night he wakes up screaming. You can just tell that it is a "I'm in pain" cry and it makes me so sad. He is on amoxycillin, so I am hoping that kicks in soon. The doctor will take another look to make sure they are better on Tues for his 9 month appointment. WHAT?!?! 9 MONTHS!!! That sounds crazy!! How have we already covered three quarters of his first year?

It is crazy how quickly this first year is going. Though it is sad to see my little man grow up so quickly, it is also very exciting to watch him grow and learn. His new thing is dancing. When he hears music he starts moving his hips. However, no music is required, he also like to shake it in the tub:)

You can find me in the tub...

You can tell they are cousins, look at those matching kankles:)

Fruit puffs are just as I thought...demonic puffs of fruit!! Now that I think of it, it doesn't even look like there is any fruit in them. Last night Logan ate one puff, no problem. He chewed it up with those two bottom teeth and swallowed it down. The second puff, not so much. It seemed like he was trying to swallow it whole and though they are quick dissolving, they didn't dissolve quick enough. At first he was doing a half cough and then a coughing gag. That is the scariest, it is hard not to panic when he does that. Before either one of us could get a finger in his mouth, he spewed everywhere. Once again, the vomit served as a relief and Logan just smiled at us like, "relax people, I got this all under control.".

Looks like the menu has gotton smaller:)

Business Man

Logan loves the laptop. He will stop at nothing to get his hands on it. This got us thinking...maybe we should use the laptop as bait to get him moving. He can go from the sitting up position to his belly (if he wants something bad enough).

Just checking the NASDAQ...

Got it!!

Teeny Tiny Bites

Last night Logan ate his first little fruit puff all by himself. Due to the trauma that the biter biscuits inflicted on us, we haven't been letting him near those little puffs of terror, but we realized that Logan had to learn sooner or later. We didn't want him to be the only kid in grade school with a liquid lunch everyday!!

We have been giving him the fruit puffs for a while, but they usually serve as a means for entertainment and not so much for snacking. What I mean by this is that he tries his hardest, but they never make it to his mouth. He picks them up and tries to switch them to the other hand, but they usually get lost in the transition.

However, last night, he put it right in his mouth and ate it. It took him a while to swallow it, but after moving it all around in his mouth, it was gone. And to my relief, he didn't choke on it. Guess fruit puffs are here to stay:)

He is eating his finger, but the puff is actually in his hand.

Where there is a will, there is a way...Logan ate his first puff!!

Self Serve

Wow, talk about a month of changes. Logan has been starting to feed himself his own bottle. It is still very much up to him; he decides when he feels like doing it and when he wants me to:) When he is feeding himself it is much more relaxed and leisurely. He might look as if he is playing with the bottle, but those are just air breaks.

For safety, please keep your hands on the bottle and your foot at all times..

Steppin it up

Logan has really been getting active lately. He could already roll from his back to his belly, but now he can roll back onto his back. He doesn't really understand this though. If he rolls onto his belly he will get all pissy and make no attempt at rolling himself back over, even though he can. If he is on his belly he can move himself in a big circle to get whatever it is he wants in his mouth. He can't pull his own knees up, but if we put him on his hands and knees he can stay up on all fours for quite a while...without face planting...always a plus:)

I am not done, he has also figured out how to put one foot in front of the other as if he were walking. We bought him a little Jeep walker and I think that has helped him get better at moving with his feet. He has been sleeping in his bed and I have been sleeping much better. My fears of him being kidnapped in the night are slowly subsiding.

It's a Jeep thing...

He is getting bigger and bigger. He weighs in over 24 lbs and he is wearing some 18 month clothes. I am waiting for his growth to start tapering off...it's gonna happen;)

Snuggling to his frog, his new favorite position.

2010!!!

Wow, I can't believe we are already in 2010. I can only imagine what things await me this year. I am thinking that Logan might walk this year:) I picture him to be a 2 year old who thinks, "why should I walk when this lady will carry me?"...my back hurts just thinking about it.

Logan got his second tooth about 2 weeks after his first one. They are there and they are SHARP!! He is like a little piranha. Since he has teeth now, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to give him some biter biscuits. Maybe they should be renamed to "death trap throat lodgers"...I don't know, does that sound too scary to market??

Why am I being so harsh to the poor little biter biscuits, well, let me explain. I bought two different kinds and I was sooo excited to get them home and watch Logan be quickly covered with mushy goo. Dave, being his skeptical self, had to bite one himself in an attempt to see if these "unbreakable" biscuits would, well, break. They passed the test and were handed over to Logan's eager hands.

I watched him suck and gnaw with joy and I noticed the mush beginning to break off and cover his hands and high chair tray. Then, suddenly, he began to choke. I brushed it off and went over to him thinking it was just for a second. However, he continued to choke and I panicked and stuck my finger in his throat to possibly clear a chunk, but instead, he blew chunks. I am talking projectile all the way to my shoulder throw up. Even after this, he was still choking!!

Just then Dave asked what was going on from the other room and I yelled for his help. By this time, I was in full freak out mode and for a split second I thought about calling 911. Dave held him sideways face down towards ground and put his finger to try and get something. Two more times Logan spewed all over and finally, it was gone...whatever it was?? I was so relieved and didn't even care that I was covered in vomit. Dave, however, turned from scared to angry. I thought he was going to put the biscuits in the driveway and drive over them!!

Now Dave is leary about giving Logan anything that isn't pureed. I, too am scared to try it again, but I know that he has to start eating something with a little more texture. I guess it will happen when it should and Logan will let us know when he is ready. For now, Cheerios are taking the back seat.

Other than that, nothing too exciting. He just chills. He likes to be surrounded by his toys and he just rotates them in and out of his mouth. If he has something and then you pick something up and start playing with it, he instantly throws what he has down and reaches for your toy. Kinda bratty and cute at the same time.

He has also started looking for us when we leave the room (or his eyesight). It makes playing peek-a-boo so much more fun. He is such a little ham.

Oh, big step for mommy and daddy. We put him in his room in his crib. He has been sleeping great in there...unlike me. I have this fear that someone is going to break in our house and steal him in the night (someone has been watching too much of the Lifetime channel). I am getting better. He is probably in heaven to be on a real mattress and not that crappy cardboard pack n' play.

I wish we would have taken him out in the snow, but I am sure we will have another opportunity for that.

Barn door's open!

How can I get that camera into my mouth???
